Even though ALL of the people buried here were very special and precious to many, there are some that played a role in our nation’s history.

- Captain Robert Bean (1764-1824) served in the Revolutionary War, fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain and is the first burial.
- Jane Simmons Raulston (1783-1870) is the wife of Colonel James Raulston. Colonel Raulston is buried in Doran’s Cove, Alabama. She was living with her son in Sweetens Cove at the time of her death and could not be taken to Doran’s Cove due to the roads being impassable by flooding rains.
- “G.W.” Wash Coppinger (1859-1927) was Sheriff of Marion County killed during the Christmas night shootout in 1927 at South Pittsburg, TN.
- 20 Unknown Confederate Cavalrymen (1862) were buried after the Battle of Sweetens Cove on June 4, 1862.
- Veterans representing every war from the Revolutionary to the Korean Conflict are buried there. This includes those that served in the Confederate and Union Armies of the Civil War.
